Today, we formally bid farewell to Dame Ann Limb, who has served as Chair of Entrust for the past eight years. During that time, Ann has been instrumental in ensuring that we have successfully regulated the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF).
Ann provided invaluable leadership and support to the Company during her tenure as Chair. Her guidance especially around the time of the Pandemic was crucial in helping us navigate the rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
For this reason, the Board and all the Staff want to formally record our thanks to Ann for her leadership, dedication and hard work since she joined the Company.
On leaving the Company, Ann commented:
"It's been an incredible experience to have served as the Chair of Entrust for the past several years. I am proud of the work we have accomplished and the wider impact we have had on local communities and the environment through the LCF. I wanted to thank all members of the organisation—both past and present—for the dedication and hard work they have put in over the last few years, which made has helped make this experience so rewarding. I'm sure I will miss being a part of such a dynamic group of people, but I know that Entrust is in good hands with Antony Townsend and I believe great things are still to come for Entrust in the future."
Commenting on her contribution to Entrust, Christopher Welford, Entrust’s Chief Executive said:
"I am personally indebted to Ann for her support and guidance since joining the Board and it is a sad day for me that she is now leaving the Company. In particular during the Pandemic, I was able to call on Ann’s wise shoulders to work with me through a challenging period of change and transition. On behalf of the Board, Staff and myself I want to thank her and wish her and Maggie every success and continued happiness in the future."
Commenting on Antony Townsend’s appointment as the new Chair, Christopher Welford continued:
"Following the completion of an open competition exercise, I am pleased to announce that Antony Townsend has been appointed as Entrust's new Chair. We welcome Antony to the LCF and the Company. He has extensive experience of the regulatory world as both a Non-Executive Director and Chief Executive of several national regulatory bodies. I am looking forward to working with Antony to further develop and strengthen the regulation of the LCF."
On accepting his appointment, Antony made the following comment:
"I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair at Entrust and look forward to working alongside the Board and our team as we build upon our past accomplishments. With our commitment to innovation and transparency, I am confident that we can further enhance Entrust’ vision for the regulation of the LCF, working with all our stakeholder communities to create a better tomorrow for local communities and the environment across England and Northern Ireland."
