Project Detail

The project will enable us to replace the roof on a community-owned sports centre (Walton Park Sports Centre) as it is currently leaking, which is adversely affecting the quality of the facilities for local residents. The leaking roof has allowed water ingress which has now damaged the sports hall floor, representing a potential health and safety risk to users, if it is not repaired in time. The sports centre is used by approximately 1500 local residents each week for a range of sports and fitness activities such as football, netball, yoga, HIT Steps, circuit training etc. The centre is a social hub where we deliver support for disadvantaged local residents. Activities include school holiday activities for children including Kidz Club exercise activities which also provides an opportunity for us to provide meals for disadvantaged children while they are not accessing school meals. We also deliver pensioners' activities and have a Community Information Point to direct residents to services
