Project details below
Albertbridge Community Park
The project aims to take an existing car park at the edge of the Albertbridge Road in East Belfast and transform it into a community park.
The car park is not used on a regular basis and is surrounded by dilapidated rusting fencing and therefore resembles derelict land. It adds to the sense of dereliction, and urban greyness which is prevalent in this part of Belfast.
The main objectives of this project are to:
• Create a community park and a shared space
• Enhance and preserve biodiversity within the area
• Enhance the look and feel of one of NI’s most deprived urban neighbourhoods
• Create a space for the community to be proud of and take ownership of (involvement in maintaining the park)
• Make better use of a site which is run down and partially used
