Yelvertoft Village Hall Play Area refurbishment

The current play area is 25 years old and is deteriorating such that our maintenance costs are rising rapidly each year. Annual safety checks identify increasing problems and some equipment has been removed recently. This project aims to replace most of the equipment, provide a wider, better and more inclusive range of play equipment with some all weather surfaces. A survey was circulated to all residents and the results showed unanimous support for this proposal. Representatives of the community’s user groups of the play area helped to decide the optimum scheme and evaluate suppliers’ proposals and costs which were analysed and approved by the Hall’s management committee. Equipment accessible for children with impaired mobility is incorporated. The safer surfaces will reduce maintenance and allow all weather access. The style of equipment is selected to conform to all relevant safety standards and be in keeping with its rural setting.
