Woodland Haven for Wildlife & the Community (Gelli Hir Woods nature reserve)

This project will enhance the visitor experience to Gelli Hir woods by making improvements and upgrades to over 1km of existing paths and tracks and the creation of an additional 500m of trail. A barn will be erected as a base for volunteer and community engagement, events will be held and members of the local community will be encouraged to increase their knowledge of biodiversity and be involved in the reserve’s management. Securing the boundary against trespassing livestock will benefit biodiversity and visitor safety. Horses will be used to extract timber from works already scheduled, this will be a high profile activity in which we will engage the public, local health and wellbeing groups and conservation professionals.
