Wesley Centre – New Roof

The works to be completed are to replace the main flat roof of Wesley Methodist Church building which is bitumen felt roof of approximately 30 -35 years old and reached the end of of its life expectancy and replacement overdue with a new warm deck roof and associated upper UPVC double glazed windows that are 20-25 years old and due to poor installation and movement are in need of replacement.
The overarching aims of the works are to provide a more flexible space for a range of community activities and forms of worship and improve the thermal efficiency of the building and encourage more use of the main auditorium space during the week by community and church groups.
The current project cost estimate is circa £225,000 which may increase with time delays and inflation. The project will improve the thermal efficiency and community use of the building.
The building as a whole is extensively used by community groups, the Wesley Centre and operated as a community development resource centre by the “The 291 Community Association CIO”.
