Walney Community Trust Centre Improvements

The project is to carry out upgrade and improvements to Walney Community Trust Centre including:
Kitchen – Units, sinks, taps, appliances, fitting and electrical work
Fire door – Door and fitting
Main hall chairs
This project will enhance the service users’ overall experience when visiting the Centre. It will ensure that the Centre is more user friendly, accessible to more users as the kitchen will become much more streamlined and with a better overall layout meaning more space to move around, less risk of hazards especially for those that hire the Centre and are disabled. The new kitchen layout will allow easier access into the kitchen.
Those using the Centre will benefit from new hall chairs meaning that they are more comfortable with ergonomically designed chairs, easier to keep clean and therefore less risk to those that are vulnerable due to health concerns, the elderly and the physically impaired.
The kitchen redesign will allow for the implementation of new electric ovens and hob, changing from the current gas source. This will allow the applicants to utilise energy generated from their solar panels and stored in batteries, which will reduce environmental impact and energy bills. Replacing the taps will also help us to reduce water consumption.
The applicants plan to gift any appliances/fittings that are still usable to reduce waste.
The new measures that the applicants plan to implement will improve the access within the kitchen area, changing from floor level ovens to slightly higher level including retractable doors to enable the floor area not to be obstructed. Surfaces and doors will be much more user friendly with handles that are not protruding or obstructing the narrow kitchen space. More floor space will also be created by reducing the number of cupboards as you enter the kitchen, allowing for ease of access.
The desks will be height adjustable to allow for accessibility and use by wheelchair users and those with any other restrictive physical disability that may require the need for this and the hall chairs will be much more ergonomic for service users.
