Towards a Sustainable Woodland at The National Botanic Garden of WalesBGW

The project will extend and improve visitor access to and enjoyment of the historic Regency period parkland at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Clearing scrubby hazel and alder from around the lost lake of Llyn Mawr will allow specimen planting of Regency era trees, whilst removal of part of the tree canopy will allow reintroduction of some of Wales’ rarest plant species. This is the first phase of a strategic restoration and re-configuration of the parkland that will lead to the planting of 18,000 trees covering 11.2 hectares.
