Tollgate Hall Refurbishment Phase 2, Stanway Village Hall Management Committee, Colchester

This project is for refurbishment works to Tollgate Hall, part of Stanway Village Hall’s complex of community buildings, including solar panels, LED lighting, automatic entrance doors, new sanitaryware, installation of a hearing loop, new fire alarm, new projector/screen, Wi-Fi cable extension, new internal doors, new fire doors, new cubicle doors, and ceiling repairs.

Tollgate Hall was built in 1984 and although the Charity has continued to upgrade the hall
from the profits over the last twelve years, the hall is now in need of some major refurbishment to bring it up to current standards and make it more accessible for the members of the community with disabilities. Tollgate Hall continues to be popular but areas such as the ceiling are now in need of urgent replacement. Also, in order to reduce its running costs LED lights and solar panels are needed. The outcome will be increased footfall and accessibility.

Tollgate Hall has a sound exterior and is in a good central location in the community, close to many of the main schools, with suitable off road, safe, parking facilities. With all the stages of the Charity’s project plan completed, the venue will give the community a new modern, compliant venue that has increased accessibility and efficient running costs that will be able to maintain hire charges at reasonable rates. This will allow clubs and societies that offer services and support to many different groups in the community, to continue with their work and not be priced out of the venue. Keeping cost down for regular hirers that provide services to the local community is one of the main objectives of the Charity.
