Steven Burke Sports Hub, Further Developments, Nelson

We would like to improve the facilities at the Steven Burke Sports Hub to attract a wider range of cyclists. The main problem at the cycle circuit is that there are no toilets close by for when activities are booked on the track. The funding will provide a bitmac surface for a toilet block to be sited. The toilet block will be a converted container and will include disabled toilet as well as female and male toilets and an office space. The bitmac surface will provide extra training area, an event space and additional parking for the facility. The toilets would only be used for activities and events that book the facility. The funding will also provide solar lighting to delineate the path and make it feel safer after dark. We also aim to introduce two new types of cycling to attract new riders which are dual slalom BMX and grass track racing.

The works will be carried out by Pendle Borough Council’s Engineering Section with the grass track and dual slalom tracks being done by CSP volunteers
