St Neots Lawn Tennis Club

The project is to refurbish and upgrade the interior of the clubhouse at St Neots Tennis Club, including rewiring, plumbing work, insertion of small meeting room with stud partition walls, new sanitary facilities, redecoration and flooring. The club has obtained detailed architectural plans and gone out for a range of quotes.
Rewiring and plumbing will make the building both safer and greener. Modern bathroom facilities will be a great boon for all users, especially children, using the facility. Repainted and maintained facilities will prevent further deterioration of the building and improve the general public’s experience and perception of the tennis club. Having disabled access and suitable accessible toilet facilities, usable by all, brings the tennis clubhouse up into the 21st century. The new meeting room area will improve flexibility of the building and provide a private space for any confidential conversations.
The Tennis Club House was built in the 1960s and is in need of major refurbishment. Last year the roof was replaced and a new access ramp and deck area was added. The club dates back to1920 and has an active membership of over 150 adults and provides coaching for children (who don’t have to be members). The club is the main tennis facility for the community of St Neots and surrounding villages and funds a coach to provide lessons in local schools.
St Neots Tennis club offers good value court time across the whole week and is accessed by a range of people from 18 to 80+. Junior users (4-18) attending for lessons or general play also remain high which brings considerable numbers of parents/carers into the clubhouse. Feedback from members as well as guests and relatives highlighted the need for better facilities.
