Solar Panels on Whitminster Village Hall

To install an array of 37 solar panels to our vast village hall roof to reduce our energy consumption and bills in response to the Energy Crisis. Our bills are so big now that we have had to increase our hire charges to a point where we are now one of the most expensive village halls in the district. We cannot afford to increase the hire charges further or we will loose clients which will be bad for our community and surrounding areas.

If we cant put solar panels on to help combat these bills we are at risk of closing and again that will be bad for the community and will also mean that we have to close our other site in the village. We are a designated Building of Safety by our district council in the event of a Community Emergency such as the floods of 2007 where we where closed during a renovation of the village hall.

Once we have the 37 panels installed we will have the system monitored by the contractor who can then advise us of the size of batteries we can add to the system. We have been advised because of the way we draw much more energy at the weekends it is not a good idea to put batteries on the system to start with as because if the battery is the wrong type/size it can be damaged quickly. Therefore we will add batteries later if applicable.
