Saltburn Playzone

Installation of floodlighting to a new Playzone funded by the Football Foundation (total cost £250k circa).
This coastal town lacks recreation facilities and in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, the FF have agreed Saltburn as a site for said new Playzone.

Aim of the works are to encourage the local community to participate in sport and encourage people from outside the area to come into the town and improve its local economy and forge friendships with local people and beyond. The value to the town and environment is invaluable for recreation provision and bringing back into use brown land.
Delivery of a Football Foundation PlayZone facility for use by Saltburn Athletic FC and the local community. This multi-sport facility would be floodlit, bookable via an app, and be secured with a keypad entry system.

The PlayZone project is a national scheme run by the Football Foundation in partnership with local authorities. The Foundation provide 75% of the cost of the project, with the local authority (RCBC) identifying the location and acting as a project manager until the completion of construction. Upon completion the facility would be given a minimum 10 year lease and management would be handed to SAFC.

The PlayZone is designed to be multi-use, offering a range of sports (including wheelchair variations) – multiple football variations (such as Premier League Kicks, FA Weetabix Wildcats, and walking football programmes), basketball, rugby, netball, hockey, and cricket.

The facility will be open to all members of the community, of all ages. Bookings will take place via an app and keypad entry system, allowing anyone to easily make a reservation and use the facility. This easy access to high-quality sporting facilities will provide much needed recreation opportunities for local young people, as well as providing opportunities for groups such as the elderly and disabled people to partake in sport in a safe, suitable, and well maintained environment.
