Rare Welsh Plants Conservation Project

The project aims to conserve some of the most threatened Welsh plants through a combination ex-situ and in-situ conservtaion work, the establishment of a herbarium at the NBGW, and extensive public engagement activities focusing on the conservation work being undertaken. The project will clarify taxonomic issues, clarify native status, undertake field surveys, develop propagation protocols and develop an ex-situ collection. The project will focus on Cotoneaster cambricus, Asparagus prostratus, Campanula patula, Hieracium spp and Sorbus spp, and those species identified within the nature reserve at the Garden. The project will also provide some of the necessary infrastructure for such activities to be undertaken by NBGW.
