Long Wittenham – Acklings Playground Development

The project is designed to provide new playground facilities for children in Long Wittenham by expanding facilities at Acklings Field, a village play area at the western end of the village for over 40 years. The main playground facilities currently are located at the east end of the village and focus on the play needs of younger children. However, recent housing developments in the village (and an imminent development of another 45 houses with a new school and village hall) now mean that the population is located predominantly at the west end of the village. This development will address the population shift and will provide more facilities for older children, ages 5-13. The work would involve installation of a number of new pieces of equipment together with social areas for
children and adults and landscaping of the site including tree planting.
The applicants have chosen play equipment and added facilities to make the site as accessible and usable by all.
