King George V Playing Fields protection for Community Use, Guisborough Town Football Club, Teesside

This is a project to fence the sports fields to prevent vandalism at King George V Playing Fields.

Over the last couple of years, the town of Guisborough has suffered at the hands of mindless vandals, notably targeting community venues and assets that are used daily by local people for sport and recreation. Guisborough Town Football Club has worked alongside the council to develop a solution to protect the King George V Playing Fields to ensure that the sports fields remain safe and usable. The proposal is to put a fence around to stop cars and motors bikes entering the fields. The club has been given a 30 year lease to promote sport and tend to the fields for the betterment of the community.

With the club securing the lease, the project aims to ensure the fields are safe, accessible, and maintained as a vital space for sports and recreation to benefit the community by:

• Enhanced Safety: Protects fields from damage caused by unauthorised vehicles, ensuring a secure environment for all users
• Preservation of Community Assets: Safeguards the fields for long-term use by preventing vandalism and misuse
• Promotion of Health and Well-being: Encourages greater participation in sports and recreation, fostering physical and mental health benefits
• Community Engagement: Strengthens community pride and cohesion by providing a reliable and well-maintained space for events and activities
• Sustainability: Empowers Guisborough Town Football Club to steward and develop the fields, ensuring their availability for future generations.

This initiative represents a proactive step toward preserving and enhancing the town’s recreational infrastructure, supporting a healthier, more connected community.
