Kettering – Northampton Road Pavilion and Courts

The project aims to refurbish the ancillary community room within the pavilion and resurface 4 public macadam outdoor tennis courts.
The facilities in the pavilion do not offer the required standards that local groups and organisations need. All areas of the ancillary room need upgrading to further enhance the public’s experience and encourage more people to join groups and sessions operating from the pavilion. An inclusive community room will be an ideal space to hold meetings, groups/activities; as well as supporting the junior holiday camp programmes as they are without any indoor meeting space. The community room refurbishment will include the removal of existing fixtures and fittings to enable replacement flooring, boarding over high-level inaccessible windows, removing external boarding to enhance outlook and improve natural light; full redecoration and installing external parkland benches to give
parents and spectators a safe viewing space.
The courts were resurfaced approximately 20 years ago and although interim maintenance has been completed (most recently in 2023) surface conditions are worsening, with players regularly experiencing uneven bounce and uneven patches due to the extreme pitting on the surface which is becoming a safety concern. Works to the courts include resurfacing of 4 macadam tennis courts in an area which is approximately two blocks of 34 m x 30 m.
