Increasing the capacity of our Tennis Club for the Local Community, Winscombe Tennis Club, Weston-super-Mare

The aim of this project is to install new floodlights on to courts 5 and 6 at Winscombe Tennis Club.

The club has a resurgence of old and new tennis players attending. During the summer months this can be managed due to daylight saving hours. During the darker winter months, the club is unable to meet the demand from the local community.

Currently the club is at capacity during the winter months due to only having four of six courts illuminated. Tennis is a sport that can be played all year round in the right conditions. When children finish school and make their way to the club darkness is already upon it. The club wants to be able to provide a consistent engagement throughout the year to support with reducing social isolation and encouraging people to stay active. Lights on courts 5 and 6 will also enable more tennis to be played spring and autumn as the nights close in earlier.
