Improvements at Lislagan Farm

We are planning on improving and enhancing our rural space by increasing the access to the amenity via a number of health and safety led improvements to allow better access to the site and to allow other parts of the site to be opened up to the public. These enhancements will be achieved by having natural wooden fencing (especially around the stream area), installing gates to allow animal movement and separate pedestrian movement and to keep traffic and people separate, courtyard improvements to allow drainage, purchase of equipment to maintain the site and allow volunteers to help.
These improvements will also help encourage volunteers and ensure that the flora and fauna can be seen by more people. This quiet nature site has wild flowers, bees and Irish hares which can be seen. We will also have a volunteer team established to help maintain and enhance the site via hedgerows, planting veg patches etc We will create new hedgerows within the site.
We aim to provide this project all year round with the maintenance etc ensuring that it is always open 48 weeks per year x 5 days.
The project has an enriched bio diverse habitat. There is already conservation projects on the site, including the growing of flowers, fruit and vegetables and beehives which can be utilised by this project and the community with the outdoor educational room and observation decking and plus outdoor covered area we aim to provide.
This project will enable the local community to enjoy and use a rural location and amenity for a minimum of 5 days per week. It will provide a safe secure outdoor space for the local community to use and will be accessible for section 75 participants. We want to provide an accessible space for the community to enjoy the benefits of green therapy, and therapeutic interventions of the natural environment thus providing a longer term impact and sustainable outcomes.
