Guttering and Flash Floods

Due to global warming our parapet gutters have been unable to cope with flash floods during times of extremely heavy rainfall. This has resulted in the building sustaining both internal and external damage to the structure including staining of the stonework. In addition, water has been over spilling the parapet onto the public footpath below , which could ice over in winter and become a health and safety issue for pedestrians.
The problem is that the number and size of the outlets are now insufficient for the water gathering within the parapet gutters. To remedy the matter we intend to utilise existing breather pipes by forming additional outlets from the gutters in order they also act as additional down pipes.
We have received an estimate for the work involved which we enclose for your information.
As you will appreciate Anderson’s is an iconic listed building within Elgin and it is vital we take action to protect the infrastructure and the public.
