Environmental Bodies

Environmental Bodies

Environmental Bodies (EBs) are non-profit organisations registered to receive Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) money. To be eligible, the organisation must align with LCF goals and fulfil the following criteria:

  • Be not-for-profit

  • Not be controlled by a Landfill Operator (LO) or local authority

  • Align with LCF's aims and objectives

  • Operate in England or Northern Ireland

EBs can be non-charitable but must use any surplus funds for their objectives, not as dividends. LCF funds are for projects in England and Northern Ireland only.

To register as an EB:

  • Use ENTRUST Online (EOL) to submit an application

  • Provide a copy of your governing document

  • Pay a £100 non-refundable application fee, covering enrolment costs

  • Before applying, consult with your funder, as some can register your project. Compliance with The Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 is mandatory.

EBs must follow The Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 (Regulations),  with resources like guidance manuals and training modules available for compliance. For more enrolment details, resources, and assistance, visit our website or contact our helpline.

For more details, see our Guidance Manual and complete our 30-minute online training module available on SurveyMonkey. Additional resources are at our website's bottom and our FAQ page. Contact us at mailto:helpline@entrust.org.uk or call 01926 488 300 for assistance.

FAQs

Q. How do I find LCF funding?

+

There are two methods of receiving funding through the LCF:

Through an Environmental Body (EB): These organisations distribute funds on behalf of landfill operators.

Directly from a Landfill Operator (LO): Available to those based in England or Northern Ireland.

Use our funders search tool to find a list of EBs that might provide funding in your area.
